MAP was deeply saddened to learn of the death of friend and honorary patron, Mr Isaac Nusseibeh this summer.

A Palestinian refugee from Jerusalem, Isaac Nusseibeh became a pioneering senior Consultant in Spinal Injuries and Paralysis at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, where he served from 1974 - 2007. While working at Stoke Mandeville he was invited by many countries to treat patients and teach doctors. He also lectured at UCL to postgraduates, where he was a Director of a special course dedicated to treatment of paralysis and rehabilitation, worked extensively with Middle Eastern patients and was also the Honorary Secretary of the International Medical Society for Paraplegia.

Isaac worked with MAP from its very beginning and was a Board Member before retiring in 2008. We are immensely grateful for his long-term support, which enabled us to provide immediate medical aid to Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees, while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system.

Our thoughts are with his family and we are extremely moved by their ongoing generosity, raising over £5,000 for MAP’s work in his memory.
